The sound of Cuba in Hertfordshire
It all started when Phil couldn’t get to Cuba for his wedding anniversary and so after a few calls a ramshackle bunch of musicians and latin music fans got together to learn a few Buena Vista Social Club songs and well, that was it really.
They’ve played at festivals, in pubs, private gardens and coffee shops (and memorably huddled under a gazebo in torrential rain). The set list includes Buena Vista “son” classics and a few latin numbers that you don’t know you know, but you do. Gigs are as fun and interactive as possible, handing out instruments and song words and generally having a bit of fun so that everyone gets to feel part of The Cubanauts, even if it’s just for a night. You never quite know what’s going to happen at a Cubanauts gig, but you’ll definitely leave with a smile on your face, a song on your lips and a twinkle in your step feeling the infectious latino vibe.
